Biofeedback is a non-pharmacological approach that uses non-invasive equipment to read signals from the body, such as breathing rate, heart rate, muscle tension, sweat gland activity, and skin temperature, using positive auditory and visual feedback to teach how to control involuntary body reactions associated with reactions to ongoing stress and fight-and-fly responses. Biofeedback is included within the psychotherapy intervention to train the person to regulate physiological responses to stress, anxiety, and trauma. Biofeedback is an evidence-based practice to effectively treat migraines, pain, digestive disorders, incontinence, high blood pressure, anxiety, and stress-related disorders based on peer-reviewed research and clinical studies. At Neurobehavioral Health Corp., we received training accredited by BCIA in biofeedback, and we use medically certified and FDA-registered equipment.
